Best method for building a BIG Twitter following |
Ok, so I’ve been doing a lot of reading and studying of Twitter the past couple of months and after all of the reading, I’ve come to the conclusion that the single best, “non-spammy” method for building a big, loyal, Twitter following is through the use of Twitter Giveaways, or Twiveaways as I like to call them.
What’s a Twitter Giveaway? Well, essentially, you give something away… whether it’s an eBook, software product etc. OR a physical product like an Ipod… in return for Twitter users
1. reTweeting a message that you ask them to reTweet to their Twitter account
2. Follow you on Twitter
This does a few things…
1. It builds your Twitter follower count when the initial registrant follows you on Twitter
2. It “goes viral” because when the initial registrant retweets your message, you’re now “advertising” on their Twitter profile page, to all of THEIR followers. Their followers then click on the reTweet message and sign up for your contest also… and the process just spirals
This is how many of the people with large Twitter followers are able to build a Twitter
following so large. Many Twitter experts like Deborah Micek, iJustine, and Joel Comm use and/or teach about Twitter Giveaways.
The nice thing about Twiveaways is that you’re FIRST providing value in the form of an eBook or physical product… and THEN you get something in return, in the form of a larger follower count.
Rather than all of those black hat methods of building a Twitter following that we’re all so used to seeing online lately.
Because of the power of Twitter Giveaways, we’ve actually created a tool to automatically run and track Twitter Giveaways, so that there is absolutely no manual tracking necessary on our part, and the site is 100% free.
Here’s the link to the site where you can run your own Twitter Giveaways: http://www.twiveaway.com
I STRONGLY urge you to use Twiveaways in building your Twitter follower count. I can guarantee that you’ll see growth using them.
Talk soon.
Brad

Thanks for the info Brad. Actually I am participating for a while now on regular giveaways (not Twitter yet) and also visited Twiveaway, which is a great idea !
The user interface and process seems rather simple. However, I still have to figure
out how all the linking works. I got stuck when it says to get a page up explaining how to get the gift ?!? Anyway, I will figure it out shortly !
I tried this the other day as an experiment with a £5 Amazon voucher. Whilst I think it’s a good idea and can see the merits in it, I didn’t have a great deal of success.

Yeah, it all depends on your prize. If it’s not something people want, then… well, it’s not going to work well
You need to really go above and beyond and make people think… “holy cow! How can you give this away for free???”
If you don’t do that, then you’ll get results like you experienced.
Brad
I’m looking at giving away free resources I’ve compiled over the last year. Do you recommend I give it away as a zipped file or send users to my site to a secret page that lists the resources individually? I’m thinking the latter would be better.
Good question… The main idea is to increase the perceived value of whatever it is you’re giving away. So, yeah, I’d say probably create a page and describe each product they’re getting, and give each a value. (i.e. value: $67), but don’t make up the value. If it normally sold for x dollars, make sure you tell them that. I’m assuming it IS a good list of products you’ve compiled. What I will say is, if your product that you’re giving away isn’t REALLY good, it will do more harm than good. You won’t gain many followers, and those that you do gain will only be disappointed by a poor gift, and won’t take your posts seriously from then on. So, make 100% sure it’s a killer bonus. Good luck.
Brad
Just wondering if this will keep people from unfollowing you only to follow again to be in the prize draw? ie. working somewhat against the main purpose of building your following. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kathy
Pure Class Brad,
Great product, solid idea and rapid turn around. Once i can get my hands on a solid give away product I’ll run a campaign.
Twitter spam has begun already.
Do you use the twitter site or a custom reader i.e TweetDeck.?
Thanks for the great tool look forward to giving it a test drive.
Rob
Nah, I think you’re thinking too much Kathy
Yeah, I suppose something like that could happen, but realistically 99.9% of people aren’t going to waste their time following, then unfollowing.
Brad
Thanks Brad!
I usually do get accused of thinking too much – life as a VA, always trying to figure out what can happen next and making things work smoother and more efficient!
My client and I will be testing it out very soon!
Kathy
Another insane product by Brad! Thanks dude
Jorge
This seems like an awesome promotional tool! I’ll have to give it a try. I know that contests and giveaways are a great way to drive large amounts of traffic towards your website, but this service seems really interesting.
I’ll definitely have to test this out with my new ebook. See if I can get some solid promotion for it and build up my online following. Thanks for sharing!
does anyone have a sample webpage i could see as a guide showing followers all the re-tweet info
many thanks

Hi Brad,
I have tried to contact you by twitter and there´s no way.
Please contact me to ask you for keyword elite. I want to buy it but I need some answers.
Thank you
Hi, I’m very sorry. It’s tough to stay on top of all of the Twitter messages that are sent to me. Would you mind asking your question here and I’ll be happy to answer? That way others can benefit from the answer. I’m sure if you have a question, others are likely thinking the same thing. Thanks much. I’ll keep a lookout for your post.

Hey Brad,
I haven’t signed up for twitter yet because I’ve been trying to work on a project and I only have so much time in a day. I’m planning on joining soon and building up some followers before I start to market a whole lot through it.
How many followers would you say is a good amount to start doing the giveaways with?
Thanks for your time and valuable advice.
Take care,
Karl
I do a lot of SEO work, but I have been meaning to take the time to research Twitter and how it can be used to help with SEO. I was also wondering how you might go about getting followers, and this article has really helped to answer those Twitter questions that have been bugging me! Excellent as always thanks Brad.
This is a brilliant user tip. I went ahead and added the twitter administrator for
“Twiveaway” @bradcallen and and very grateful that I stumbled upon your post.
I’m going to build a giveaway of my own now, thanks to this blog. cheers!
i like this one. brad callen even provides free ebooks you can give in case you don’t have anything to giveaway for the contest you are to run on twitter. thanks very much.
Hi Brad,
Thanks for this post. I have found Twitter fairly tricky to use and also difficult to keep comitted to unlike Facebook – is so addictive and easy to use.
I think I will follow your advice and start to study it more and learn more.
Thanks fo sharing this post, I think I will bookmark it for future use…after I have got to grips with Twitter 1st, lol!!
Thanks Brad,
This is a great post, very informative, I think I will use these methods in future…
I have also just recieved my ebook “The SEO mindset” in the post today, can’t wait to get reading later.
Thanks

Hi Brad
You seem to be the guru of marketing tactics! Glad I stumbled upon your website… Any idea when you will re-open twiveaway to new members?
Regards
Katherine
Hi Brad,
I am one disappointed dude for not being able to join to twiweway.com
When will you open it for new members?
Cheers
Alan
Hi Brad
Thanks for all the info. I am just about to get into twitter so all your advice is great.
Brad I wish to know when those two free books are going to be ready. It’s been over 6 months now I think.
Thanks for sharing this. I am just getting to grips with how to use twitter for business and hadn’t heard of Twitter Give Aways. We have some documents that I am sure we could convert it ebooks its just a question of convincing my boss of the value of giving things away for free.
Hi Brad,
I would love to be able to use your Twiveaway site for our latest iPad giveaway for our company. I noticed that it is closed to new members. Is there any way that I could still be able to sign up? Please email me and let me know.
Thanks!
– Kyle
Building a large twitter following doesn’t mean shit if you don’t know how to engage and build a community around them.
I see many people with huge followings, that get barely get 5 RTs to a ne wpost. To me that says they don’t engage enough for those followers to want to share their stuff.
Big following, combined with daily engagement is where you get twitter nirvana.
Hi, sem
great content, i feel twitter is the best amongst all others because twitter is dynamic flow of information sharing with circle.
thanks for posting,,keep on
Thanks for all the great advice! Busily choosing a free give away to get started!
Hi Brad
This information you share is really valuable and it helps me a lot. I’ve been implementing a lot of things in my online business just from your free info and I’ve seen results already.
Just one question regarding this post: when you gibe the product you send a link to a squeezes page or you just give the product in return for a retweet? There’s no list building here? I’m sorry if it is a basic question, but I’m not familiar with twitter yet.
Cheers
Jorge
Well, this article is nice to me
Thanks for your sharing
On an important side note, Ijustine is the sexiest internet marketer out there!
It’s funny that it only takes one awesome piece of content to propel you into the spot-light. She handled it perfectly though.
I guess the old image of a fat man is typing away on the internet is dead.
Thanks! I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a sensible
and ethical way to increase my twitter following.
Thanks for sharing. I visited the site and was disappointed to find that Twiveaway is
currently closed to new members. Is this temporary?
Hi Brenda, sorry, it’s retired for good. It was way too much hassle supporting the site than it was worth, so it met an early retirement.
Hi Brad
Can you suggest a replacement product/site that does similar? Shame it was such a
hassle for you because it has loads of potential.
Maybe you could sell it on?
Cheers
R
Hi Rosemary, I don’t know of anything else out there that did what Twiveaway did. I’ll sell it to you
Brad, you may want to consider sending some of your twitter followers to me:)
Hi Brad,
I use to think twitter is just another social media that brings nothing to your online business. How wrong? After reading this post, I will continue twittering but with a new dimension.
Thanks.
Hi, Brad
I agree with you because I’ve practiced the methods years ago. Getting loyal followers can help us to expand our online business faster.
Thanks your great sharing!
I am on Twitter

Bummer… read your article and thought it sounded great – then discovered the site is closed!
Surely we can talk you into reopening it, can’t we???
I love the idea – how would you go about doing it without a site to track/automate
like this?
