Do meta tags still affect search engine optimization?

Posted by Brad Callen

That’s a very good question that many people still want to know. The answer, without a shadow of doubt is… No, they don’t affect SEO at all.

But, with that being said, you should definitely still use them. You should use both the meta description tag, and the meta keywords tag. The reason is because Google will often display the text inside the meta description tag on the actual search results listings when someone finds your site in Google.

Here are the 2 tags you should be using, even though they have no bearing on where you’ll rank:

<meta name =”description” content=”This is the description of my websites”>

<meta name =”keywords” CONTENT=”keyword 1, keyword 2, keyword 3, etc”>

I highly recommend that you sign up for my 7 Days To Complete SEO Domination course by filling out your name and email in the boxes at the top of this page. It’s free and I can guarantee that you will learn a TON about how to get your sites to the top of Google. Good luck!
